Amira Berkovitz, President of the Psychology Club at UCONN-Stamford presents a check for $3,192 to Harold Rollins of Domus, the outstanding result of a special event the students produced in Old Greenwich at The Beach House.
Picture-perfect proof that joy, new friends, and empowering discoveries abound at our annual, free (thanks to a single anonymous donor this year!), four-week summer camp for low-income middle school students attending summer school.
On Saturday, July 19, 2008, Domus welcomed 100 GE executives from 15 countries visiting Stamford to attend GE’s annual Experienced Commercial Leadership Program (ECLP). One group of the visiting GE executives organized a day of fun and learning for 80 Domus youth of all ages at the Hilton Stamford Hotel who hosted the day-long event free of charge. The GE professionals brought gifts from their respective counties for each of the participating youth and introduced the Domus kids to the world through a variety of games and educational projects. Domus worked for six months in late 2008 and early 2009 with the Bridgespan Group, one of the nation’s top nonprofit consulting firms, to ensure we’re maximizing our impact for vulnerable kids and families. Bridgespan clients include the cream of the crop: Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Network for Good, Sesame Workshop, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, and many others in the foundation and nonprofit world. Domus Receives $200,000 Grant

Domus is grateful to our friends at Bank of America’s Charitable Foundation for awarding us one of just two $200,000 Neighborhood Excellence Initiative® grants given in Fairfield County. We’re proud to be part of their admirable initiative to address critical social issues. Every morning, there are more and more kids who show up, needing our help, and new opportunities to serve them. This grant helps us fight another day.

October 19, 2010 - The Work & Learn Program, run by social services nonprofit Domus, is designed to help young people aged 14 to 25 make the successful transition from high school to skilled jobs, college, or vocational studies.
This break-through initiative is funded by the Trafigura Foundation, the philanthropic division of the global commodities trader, and The WorkPlace Inc., which works to help people in Southwestern Connecticut prepare for careers and strengthens the workforce for employers. Read more...

William H. Pitt Foundation gift fills empty shelves of charter school library
October 15, 2010 - Stamford, CT / Domus, a Stamford nonprofit that operates several schools for students who’ve been unsuccessful in previous schools, named its Trailblazers Academy Charter Middle School library in memory of local philanthropist and real estate developer William H. Pitt during a ceremony featuring student readings and remarks highlighting the impact of low literacy levels on a community’s social and economic health.
