Student groups include Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th and 5th grades, and middle school. The children stay in these groups from 4pm to 6pm. Bus transportation is available from each public school in Stamford as well as Waterside School. The kids are dropped off in the circle adjacent to the building and are met there by a CACC staff member to be brought into the building.

Once in the building we use a member tracking system to check in each child.  Each member of the center receives a picture ID card which they must bring with them each day in order to scan themselves into the building. When students first arrive at the center, they have time to relax after being in school all day. They have open recreation in the gym and can shoot hoops, jump rope, dance, or just run around.

At 4pm sharp it is homework time. All students line up in the gym in their group and wait to be dismissed.  Each group is assigned a homeroom where they do their homework with certified teachers. We ensure that kids who are struggling can get the additional help they need. At 5pm, it’s time for an hour of recreational activities. Programming differs each day and consists of art, gym, gameroom, computer lab, and library as well as some special weekly classes. Counselors plan the activities in each of the program areas daily.

Snack is served daily during homework time. Most snacks consist of one of the following: Jello, pudding, fruit cups, or apple sauce. Children can bring in their own snack; we encourage healthy eating.
